"All Scripture is given by inspiration of God,

and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction,

for instruction in righteousness:

That the man of God may be perfect,

thoroughly furnished unto all good works."

2 Timothy 3:16-17

Ten Tenets of Our Faith According to Scripture

1. We believe in God the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.

1 John 5:7: "For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the
Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one."

Matthew 3:16-17: "And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of
the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of
God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him: "And lo a voice from heaven,
saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased."

2. We believe that God sent his Son (Jesus) to be our Lord and Savior.

John 6:38-40: "For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will
of him that sent me. "And this is the Father's will which hath sent me, that of all
which he hath given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the
last day. "And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the
Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the
    last day."

Luke 19:10: "For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was
    lost."

3. We believe that to be saved we must fulfill the following requirements:

  • Hear the Gospel:

Romans 10:17: "So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of
           God."

Romans 1:16-17: "For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the
power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and
also to the Greek. "For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from
faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith."

  • Believe the Gospel:

John 8:24: "I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins: for if ye
believe not that I am he, ye shall die in your sins."

Ephesians 1:13-14: "In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of
truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye
were sealed with the holy Spirit of promise, "Which is the earnest of our
inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise
          of his glory."

  • Repent of our Sins:

Acts 17:30-31: "And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now
commandeth all men every where to repent: "Because he hath appointed a
day, in the which he will judge the world in righteousness by that man whom
he hath ordained; whereof he hath given assurance unto all men, in that he
hath raised him from the dead."

  • Confess Christ as Lord:

Romans 10:9-10: "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus,
and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou
shalt be saved. "For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and
with the mouth confession is made unto salvation."

  • Be Baptized for the Remission of Sins:

Matthew 28:18-20: "And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All
power is given unto me in heaven and earth. "Go ye therefore, and teach
all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and
of the Holy Ghost: "Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have
commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the
           world."

Acts 22:16: "And now why tarriest thou? Arise, and be baptized, and wash
away thy sins, calling on the name of the Lord."

4. We believe there is only One True Church and it was established by Jesus Christ.

Matthew 16: 16-18: "And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God. "And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou,
Simon Bar jona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven. "And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this
rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it."

5. We believe the One Church should wear only the name of Christ.

Acts 4: 11-12: "This is the stone which was set at nought of you builders, which is become the head of the corner. "Neither is there salvation in any other: for there
is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved."

Philippians 2:9-11: "Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: "That at the name of Jesus every knee
should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; "And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory
    of God the Father."

1 Corinthians 3:11: "For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ."

Colossians 1:18: "And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence."

1 Corinthians 12:27: "Now ye are the body of Christ, and members in particular."

Romans 16:16: "Salute one another with an holy kiss. The churches of Christ salute you."

6. We believe there is One Lord, One Faith, and One Baptism.

Ephesians 4:4-6: "There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling; "One Lord, one faith, and one baptism, "One God and
Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all."

Matthew 28:19-20: "Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: "Teaching them to
observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world."

Galatians 3:27: "For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ."

7. We believe we must worship according to scripture.

  • Communion (breaking of bread) takes place every Sunday.

           Acts 20:7: "And upon the first day of the week, when the disciples came together to break bread, Paul preached unto them, ready to depart on the morrow;
and ontinued his speech until midnight."

1 Corinthians 11:23-24: "For I have received of the Lord that which also I delivered unto you, That the Lord Jesus the same night in which he was betrayed
took bread: "And when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me."

Acts 2:42: "And they continued stedfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers."

  • Giving takes place every Sunday.

1 Corinthians 16:1-2: "Now concerning the collection for the saints, as I have given order to the churches of Galatia, even so do ye. "Upon the first day of the
week let everyone of you lay by him in store, as God hath prospered him, that there be no gatherings when I come."

  • Preaching takes place every Sunday.

           Acts 20:7: "And upon the first day of the week, when the disciples came together to break bread, Paul preached unto them, ready to depart on the morrow;
and continued his speech until midnight."

  • Praying takes place every Sunday.

Acts 2:42: "And they continued stedfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers."

1 Thessalonians 5:17: "Pray without ceasing."

  • Singing (without mechanical instruments) takes place every Sunday.

Hebrews 2:12: "Saying, I will declare thy name unto my brethren, in the midst of the church will I sing praise unto thee."

Colossians 3:16: "Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs,
singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord."

Ephesians 5:19: "Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord."

Matthew 26:30: "And when they had sung an hymn, they went out into the mount of Olives."

1 Corinthians 14:15: "What is it then? I will pray with the spirit, and I will pray with the understanding also: I will sing with the spirit, and I will sing with the
           understanding also."

8. We believe the Mission of the Church is Three-fold:

  •   To Preach the Gospel:

Mark 16:15: "And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature."

2 Timothy 4:2: "Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine."

  •   To Edify the Saints:

Ephesians 4:11-16: "And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; "For the perfecting of the
saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: "Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God,
unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ: "That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about
with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive; "But speaking the truth in love, may grow up
into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ: "From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth,
according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love."

  •   To Care for the Needy:

Galatians 6:9-10: "And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not. "As we have therefore opportunity, let us do
good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith."

Matthew 25: 34-40: "Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the
foundation of the world: "For I was a hungered, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in:
"Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me. "Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord,
when saw we thee an hungered, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink? "When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in?  or naked, and clothed
thee? "Or when saw we thee sick, and or in prison, and came unto thee? "And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you,
Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me."

James 1:27: "Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself
              unspotted from the world."

9. We believe The Church of Christ has a distinct role to play in helping to improve the quality of life in our local community, nation, and world.

  • Pray for All:

1 Timothy 2:1-4: "I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; "For kings,
and for all that are in authority; that we lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty. "For this is good and acceptable in the sight
of God our Saviour; "Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth."

  • Obey Civil Government:

Romans 13:1-2: "Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God.
"Whosoever therefore resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God: and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation."

  • Obey God rather than Man when there is a conflict:

Acts 5:28-29: "Saying, Did not we straitly command you that ye should not teach in this name? And, behold, ye have filled Jerusalem with your
doctrine, and intend to bring this man's blood upon us. "Then Peter and the other apostles answered and said, We ought to obey God rather
           than men."

  • Be Good Representatives of Christ in the World:

Mark 16:15: "And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature."

2 Corinthians 5:20: "Now we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ's stead, be ye reconciled to God."

Matthew 5:13-14: "Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing,
but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men. "Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid."

Proverbs 14:31: "He that oppresseth the poor reproacheth his Maker: but he that honoreth him (His Maker) hath mercy on the poor."

Proverbs 19:17: "He that hath pity upon the poor lendeth unto the Lord; and that which he hath given will he pay him again."

Proverbs 14:21: "He that despiseth his neighbour sinneth: but he that hath mercy on the poor, happy is he."

Galatians 5:22-25: "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, "Meekness, temperance: against such
there is no law. "And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. "If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit."

Romans 12:21: "Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good."

Colossians 3:8-15: "But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth. "Lie not one to
another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds; "And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image
of him that created him: "Where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcision nor uncircumcision, Barbarian, Scythian, bond nor free: but Christ
is all, and in all. Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness,
longsuffering; "Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also
do ye. "And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness. "And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which
also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful."

Deuteronomy 6:5-7: "And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might. "And these words,
which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart: "And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou
sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up."

Proverbs 22:6: "Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it."

Titus 2:7-8: "In all things showing thyself a pattern of good works: in doctrine showing uncorruptness, gravity, sincerity, "Sound speech, that
cannot be condemned; that he that is of the contrary part may be ashamed, having no evil thing to say of you."

James 2:14: "What doth it profit, my brethren, though a man say he hath faith, and have not works? Can faith save him?"

James 2:17: "Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone."

James 2:21-24: "Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar? "Seest thou how faith wrought
with his works, and by works was faith made perfect? "And the scripture was fulfilled which saith, Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto
him for righteousness: and he was called the Friend of God. "Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only."

Colossians 3:17: "And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him."

10. We believe that Christ wants us to be ONE - without division among us.

Ephesians 4:1-6: "I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called, "With all
lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love; "Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.
"There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling; "One Lord, one faith, one baptism, "One God and Father
of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all."

1 Corinthians 10:1-4: "Moreover, brethren, I would not that ye should be ignorant, how that all our fathers were under the cloud, and all passed
through the sea; "And were all baptized unto Moses in the cloud and in the sea; "And did eat the same spiritual meat; "And did all drink the
same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Christ."

1 Corinthians 1:10-13: "Now I beseech you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye all speak the same thing, and that there be
no divisions among you; but that ye be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment. "For it hath been declared unto me
of you, my brethren, by them which are of the house of Chloe, that there are contentions among you. "Now this I say, that every one of you saith,
I am of Paul; and I of Apollos; and I of Cephas; and I of Christ. "Is Christ divided? was Paul crucified for you? Or were ye baptized in the name
          of Paul?"

          Romans 16:17-18: "Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned;
and avoid them. "For they that are such serve not our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly; and by good works and fair speeches deceive the
          hearts of the simple."

John 17:11: "And now I am no more in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to thee. Holy Father, keep through thine own name those
whom thou hast given me, that they may be one, as we are."

John 17:20-21: "Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word; "That they all may be one; as
thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me."
